If he was 100% for the last ten years, then the cause of death won't matter. If less, then even a contributory cause that is service connected could result in DIC.

Does the veteran have to have been rated at 100% for 10 years...or would the period a 50% rating was paid with a NOD filed...then subsequent to the NOD upgraded to 100% with back pay at the 100% rate...

After I found out about IHD as a presumptive I re-filesd. I was awarded three years retro @ 100%...That takes me back to 2009, I assume that is the start date for DIC purpose...2015 will make it 6...
